Have you seen the newly renovated west lobby and gift shop at Sparrow Hospital at the St. Lawrence Campus? It’s been modernized and there’s a comfortable seating area to drink coffee and wait for your loved ones.
Updating our facilities is part of our effort to improve the Patient and Visitor experience at Sparrow.
For more than a century, Sparrow has been a leader in caring for children – so we’re excited that the Sparrow Pediatrics Unit was recently refreshed with kid-friendly furniture, new artwork, colors appealing to toddlers to teens, and more.
Located on the fifth floor of the Sparrow Tower, the Pediatrics Unit’s $3 million renovation is another step in Sparrow’s transformation of care in mid-Michigan.
As construction continues on the Plaza Building and Herbert-Herman Cancer Center, the glass walkway that will connect to the Sparrow Professional Building is now framed and enclosed. Construction on the circular drive off of Michigan Avenue is also underway. We thank all of our Patients, Caregivers, Visitors and Guests for your patience during this time when access to the Professional Building Parking ramp is periodically re-routed to accommodate the work. As weather permits, more detailed work on the W3 Plaza, the central courtyard, will get underway.
Sparrow celebrated another step in transforming care for mid-Michigan! Our brand new, 72,000-square-foot Sparrow Health Center Lansing officially opened on Nov. 21, 2016.
It’s located at 2909 E. Grand River Avenue, just west of US-127. The project is part of Sparrow’s more than $285 million in construction and information technology projects over a five-year period and comes during a major wave of openings, including the recent Gathering Place at Sparrow and next year’s Sparrow Plaza and Herbert-Herman Cancer Center.
The windows are being cleaned, the furniture uncovered, and final touches made in preparation for the opening next week of the new Sparrow Health Center Lansing. The first to open in the new building will be Sparrow Medical Group Eastside, Radiology services, and Endoscopy. In December, Sparrow Medical Group North, Sparrow Medical Group Senior Health and Laboratory services will open and in February the building will finish out with MRI services, Outpatient Physical Rehabilitation, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and a new Sparrow Pharmacy Plus with drive-thru.
By combining a range of services into one facility our Patients can see their Physician and get follow-up care such as Radiology or prescriptions, all in one visit to one location. This not only improves the Patient experience, but also helps to ensure a better health outcome.
As of the end of July, the glass front has been gradually going into place on the face of the new Plaza Building, home to the Herbert-Herman Cancer Center, and construction has started on the pedestrian bridge that will connect the Plaza to the Sparrow Professional Building. Construction started just over one year ago. Track the progress through The Christman Company’s webcam, and watch a timelapse from the very beginning!

It showcases our effort to transform facilities to meet the expectations of our Patients, Visitors, Physicians and Caregivers for quality care in a healing environment. It officially opened to the public, Thursday, July 21.
