Sparrow Rehabilitation Center Ionia

Advancing physical rehabilitation services for the people of Ionia County and beyond.

Specialized rehabilitation care is essential to the overall health of a community. Sparrow is proud to create Sparrow Rehabilitation Center Ionia, a new, expanded facility that will provide exceptional care tailored to all ages, from pediatrics to senior adults, close to home.

Features

A larger facility (205 S. DEXTER ST., IONIA, MI)

The relocation of Sparrow Rehabilitation Center Ionia to a newly renovated building will increase the size of this facility from 1,400 square feet to 7,524 square feet. This new building will allow for comprehensive rehabilitation services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology therapy, and pain management to operate under one roof.

Care close to home

The new Sparrow Rehabilitation Center Ionia increases services to our region and ensures access for our community, reducing the need to travel far for care. This expansion will ensure continuity of care for our patients who have experienced injury, illness, chronic pain, and surgery, providing them essential services to regain strength and health.

Expanded Services

Pediatric Services
Early intervention with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language therapy will drastically improve the lives of young patients who struggle with functional tasks in school and at home due to impairments in communication, cognition, walking/running, and reaching pediatric developmental milestones.
Student-Athlete Services
Expanded facilities will better support rehabilitation and a safe return-to-play for young athletes who are injured during sporting or recreational activities. Additional space will allow improved testing and objective outcome measures like running, jumping, and climbing to assess each student’s ability to resume their favorite sports safely and reduce the risk of re-injury.
Work Injury Rehabilitation
This new center will offer rehabilitation and functional capacity examinations for employers whose workers have been injured on the job, helping them return to work stronger, safely.
Pain Management
Our comprehensive pain management team works to actively improve patients' lives by treating the physical, functional, emotional, and psychological needs of those with acute and chronic pain, including headaches and back pain. Skilled clinical staff are trained in therapies including interventional pain management, pain psychology, occupational therapy, Botox procedures for chronic headaches, joint injection, medication management, and anti-inflammatory diets.
Post-Stroke and Post-Injury Support
A functional rehabilitation kitchen will allow patients to practice skills like cooking and cleaning just as they would in their own home, providing a safe environment to practice these difficult activities.

A SMART, COST-EFFECTIVE SOLUTION

By repurposing an existing building, this undertaking transforms a previously vacant space to a vibrant community asset. This project has already received USDA grant funding and support from generous lead donors. Your gift will help pave the way to make this new facility a reality.
